TODO-EDDIE: phone number and email address for accessibility help.
Our commitment
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. To be straightforward: we consider this site partially conformant — most of it meets that standard and some parts do not yet. The gaps we know about are listed below. Accessibility is ongoing rather than a project that finishes.
What is built into this site
- Descriptions for images. The logo and the weekly schedule poster both carry written descriptions, and decorative marks are hidden from screen readers.
- The schedule as text. The days, times, and items drawn on the schedule poster are also written out as text next to it.
- Readable contrast. Body text, headings, the gold button, and the footer were measured against their backgrounds and clear the WCAG AA ratio.
- Clear structure. Every page has one main heading followed by section headings in order, with lists and page landmarks a screen reader can move through.
- Respect for motion settings. If your device asks for reduced motion, the fade-in animations are turned off.
- Text that reflows. Pages were checked at phone, tablet, and desktop widths without sideways scrolling.
Display preferences
Every page on this site has an accessibility button that opens a panel of display settings. You can change text size, line height and letter spacing, switch to a higher-contrast or inverted color scheme, mute or remove color, use a more readable typeface, enlarge the cursor, turn on a reading guide or reading mask, pause animations, and highlight links and headings. There are also one-tap presets for common needs.
Your choices are saved in your own browser and are remembered the next time you visit. Nothing is sent to a server, no account is needed, and no cookies are set.
These settings are a convenience, not a substitute for building the site properly. The structure, labelling, keyboard support and contrast described above are built into the pages themselves, and this site is meant to work with your own screen reader, magnifier or browser settings whether you use that button or not. If something here does not work for you, that is a fault we want to fix — please tell us using the details below.
Known limitations
- The home page. The page at thebrewllc.com is the original single-page design. It has no "skip to content" link and no main landmark, so a screen-reader or keyboard visitor has to move through the page in order. The other pages have both.
- The weekly schedule poster. The days, times, and items are written out in text beside it, but any other wording drawn inside the artwork is not.
- Facebook. The Follow button leaves this site for Facebook, which we do not control. If that page does not work for you, we do not yet have a phone number or email on this site to offer instead.
- No published phone or email. Until those are added, Facebook is the only way this site gives you to reach The Brew LLC.
- A password-protected preview. Pages still in review sit behind a password and are not part of the public site.
- Not yet tested with assistive technology. These pages have been checked by hand and by automated tools, but not yet with a screen reader or a full keyboard pass. We will update this statement when that is done.
Third-party content
Parts of this site rely on services run by other companies, including Google Firebase (hosting), Google Fonts, and Facebook. We raise accessibility concerns with them, but we cannot repair their code. Where a third-party tool creates a barrier we will always provide another way to get the same thing done — by the contact path published on this site.
Tell us about a problem
If you hit a barrier on this website we want to hear about it. Your feedback tells us what to fix first. Please include, if you can: the page you were on, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the device or assistive technology you were using.
Message us on Facebook.
